Time to Sing, Time to Dance, Shake the Ant's from your Underpant's

Hello People's

Well, let's state the bleeding obvious shall we, I have a new site on blogger, and all of the old post's are now transferred to this site under the Aug 2010 tab.

I will be posting on the main site, but it's just getting a bit costly over there at wordpress. eventually the domain name will come over to this site, or I might rename the site, who knows.
Ok, things have been a bit hectic lately, but I have been scouring the net looking for mashups and mixes, but I haven't listened to them all yet.

I hope that my last post was helpful to you guy's and don't forget that there are the transferred older posts that have download addresses on them. I will catch up with you real soon, but for now
Au revoir

Hi Y’all
A lot of people have been asking me about viruses and malware recently, and how they get viruses when they have anti-virus software. Also, a number of people are worried because their machines are getting slower.
One of the reasons that your machine will get slower is because it’s getting fat. By this, I mean that your storage is filling up with data. Each time you turn on your machine, every time you go onto the internet, your machine records everything that you do and keeps a record. This is so that when you use system restore, the machine remembers that particular point. So you should clean unwanted files and your registry to allow your machine to run a little easier.
Doing this need not be daunting, or expensive. There’s plenty of free software to use out there, and today I’m going to list some that I’ve used myself to help to point you in the right direction.
OK, lets start with Anti-virus. Plenty of companies offer free anti-virus for the home user, because they make there money in the corporate sector. AVG is a popular choice, but the free version doesn’t scan for rootkits, so I prefer Avast 5. It has incremental updates, and automatically updates the virus database everytime you are online. I also like the boot-time scan option, which will restart your machine and scan before the operating system starts up.
For malware scanning, there are a number of options, such as Adaware, but the best on the market at the moment has to be Malwarebytes. This has removed some pretty nasty stuff for me over the years, including the XP Antivirus malware a couple of years ago, appearing out of nowhere, and holding people to ransom by pretending to be an antivirus. The only problem with Malwarebytes is that the free version that I test drove needed to be updated manually, appart from that, I thought it was great.
When it comes to cleaning the crap from you hard drive, there is Disk Cleanup in you system tools and Internet options in you control panel, but one of the greats for cleanup is, of course, Ccleaner. This program is brilliant, because it’s so simple to use. Install, change the settings to your own preference and away you go. Built by Piriform (originally called crap cleaner), their website is definately worth a look.
If you know what your doing, Hijackthis is a useful tool, if you need a firewall, zonealarm is quite good, although, it doesnt recognise some antiviruses, it still works just fine.
The important one for me is, of course, is the web browser. The list goes on and on, but the best for my money are Opera and Firefox, with Firefox being the most popular, due the hundreds of add-on that are availible.
Most free software is provided as freeware, but some are listed as donationware, where the software is made to be used for free, by non-corporate programmers, and the donations allow for the software to be updated by the generosity of the users. I would urge you to donate a small amount if you like the software and plan on using it, by way of a thankyou.
Most of you are probably quite proficient with your machines, the information here is to help those of you who are not quite au fait with your new machine, but simple steps like these can help in the longrun. Read up on how computers work, learn where the dangers lie. Don’t answer strange emails that ask for account numbers and passwords, banks don’t ever ask for sensitive information by email. Clear your browsing history with the tabs in your browser. Simple steps like these are similar to checking the oil and water in your car, or checking the tyre pressure.
I hope you all have a fantastic summer, and safe surfing, be it wet or web

In the words of the great poet, ‘Hello, Good Evening & Welcome.’

Hi everybody

In today’s listing on, I have a plethora of wonderful mash-up and download site’s for your enjoyment. Also some Pod-casts and on-line radio stations

Firstly, I would like to Give DJ Useo a show of immense appreciation, for once again taking time out of his busy schedule & stepping into the breach and hosting the

Ramdomthoughts Pod-cast,

while presenter Scott is taking time out for exams. Yet another fabulous show, great mash-up’s presented with humour, style & panache. This is the 4th outing for DJ Useo, along with other greats such as Bobby Martini, Oscar TG, Neutronic and DJ Petruska

Pod-casting is not an easy medium in which to express oneself, as I’m sure, there are many people out there who could testify to this. I have personally listened to and now miss a number of pod-casts that simply didn’t last the test of time, may they rest in peace.

However, there are plenty of mash-up pod-casts out there worth a listen. Top of the shop, of course, is, but another favourite of mine is

where you can listen to Radio Stix, presented by Josh R & the Mashstix Alternative hosted by G3rst. There are many downloads, including the ‘Sounds In The New World’ double CD. This site does have corporate sponser’s, but don’t let that put you off. Alternately, go to Gotham City, where the ultimate being of enlightenment that is Colatron has it listed there at

For those of you who like Trance, especially live, I can recommend the wonderful

Afterhours.FM (AH.FM) is a free online radio station which plays Trance and Progressive music from DJs around the world. Launched in June 2006, AH.FM now has over 180 DJs and over 500 shows a month, supporting all main music formats and players.

Most of you out there probably already know about AH.FM, but for those of you who are yet to have the pleasure, simply bookmark the player and listen whenever your on-line. Simply google ‘’ and click ‘player’ or go to and all supported players are at the top of the screen.

Happy New Year for 2010 - Back to Business

Well, hello to everyone out there. Hope you are all well and had a most enjoyable New Year.

I didn’t post anything until now, because I have been job hunting.

I haven’t forgotten my duties though. I have been scouring the internet looking for New mashup’s, and I have found a few old favourites as well.

Those of you who are fans of the ramdomthoughts podcasts, will know that I brought to Scott’s attention a mashup artist by the name of Calmucho (formally known as Ken ‘Kendoll’ Carson). I’m sorry to say that he hasn’t produced anything new since the summer of 2008, but fear not, his Youtube channel is still running and his tracks are still available to download on his blogsite at

It seems that is becoming popular with fans of mashup in Russia and Poland. I have received comments from many people (using Google Translate as I only speak english) and have received positive comments on the site. I wish to extend my gratitude to you all, Thank-you for your feedback, it’s much appreciated.

Fans of Colatron can find his long awaited Tenebrism, released 14th December on his website, but be warned that he’s been a busy boy, and has released seven tracks since December. So go to and scroll down the page.

Also, over at, Apollo Zero brings us his latest offering Donna Summer VS U2 – She works hard on New Years day. Also amongst the treasures you can find LeeDM101 – The One I Looped and also Womanizer on fire, two great tracks.

From the Godfather of Mashup, Bobby Martini, we have plethora of amazing mixes. Recent inclusions are La Roux in Pain and also a favourite of mine Sound Pollution this Time, Baby.

I have to say that if you visit, check out the long mixes, especially Joy of Decks. The three Long Mixes on this page are on my ipod. They are, along with E.V.P. And the Political HipHop Mix, the soundtrack to my life.

The Political HipHop Mix is one of those classics, a piece of Mashup legend (up there with dangermouse’s black album), but people are having trouble finding it. If you are one of these people, try the link below

Dropping down from the No1 one position in the mashup charts, is the DJ’s from Mars, with Run this Town, a mashup of Jay-Z ft Rihanna (Run this town)VS Johann Sebastian Bach (Toccata and Fugue in D minor). Very well mixed, and Rihannas got a great set of pins on her.

I dont go much in the way of video mashups, if I’m honest, but I have stumbled across a couple of really good ones. I have uploaded them to mediafire for your enjoyment. Check them out at the links below

Happy Christmas for 2009

Happy Christmas to you all. I’ve been offline for a while due to a rather nasty rootkit virus and my PC is dead. It was only an emachines, but I recently bought a 26 inch monitor for it, so I was a bit pissed off. Using an old laptop at the moment, while I build a new PC.
Goodness me, so many comments. Thankyou. What with the virus problem and christmas coming, I haven’t been scouring the net as much as I usually do. I love to find new talent in the world of mashup. I passed anything I found onto my good mate Scott over at RamdomThoughts. I now have my own page to pass these onto to you direct. I wanted to do a post before Christmas was upon us, and have found something you might like.
I am a huge fan of Top Gear, and of Clarkson in general, and while looking through youtube, I found a vid by a guy called Swede Mason called Jeremy Clarkson – Beatbox. It’s ACE. Definitly a must see. So check the links below and I will see you in the new year
All the best, Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year
And to all a goodnight

COLATRON - UK - E.V.P. (Electronic Voice Phenomenon)

In a quiet corner of the West Midlands, in the bustling metropolis that is Birmingham, resides a man who walks the fine line between genius and insanity. The self proclaimed ‘Peter Pan of Coleshill’ known to his friends as Andy Panty, Andy Smart is the composite incarnation known as….. Colatron

By day, a mild mannered Telecommunications Expert (with a Bachelors Degree in Astrophysics). Armed with a capacious intellect, a quick wit and a twinkle in his eye, he endeavours to solve the day to day problems that arise in quick succession, stopping only at lunchtime for tea and hobnobs (our sources tell us that he is also partial to a bacon sarnie, although this is unconfirmed)

By night, He is a roving Casanova with an eye for the ladies, a connoisseur of good food & fine wines. He is a man about town, accompanied by a constant bevy of beauties at his side, who are known locally as ‘Smartie’s Angels’. Each one with a factor five ‘fwoor’ rating, their leader, a mysterious figure known only as Patsy Stricks (our sources tell us that she wears no knicks, although this is also unconfirmed)

But in the darkness of the early hours, his alter ego persona comes alive. Colatron, armed with his PC and his message of peace and love, has resolved to using his powers for the benefit of humanity. He is faster than a spinning CD, more powerful than a fender stratocaster turned up to 11 and is able to leap a tall wine bottle in a single bound. Some say he’s insane, but he’s actually a Scorpio.

A regular of the RamdomThoughts Mashup Podcasts since May 2007 (premièring on show #56 with Six Day War), Colatron (sometimes abbreviated to the acronym CLT) is a man’s man, with a love of music, birds, booze, smokes and wrestling, yet feels quite comfortable in a nice figure hugging dress or even barbecuing au naturel (this has been confirmed)

Andy was born 10th November 1978 (whereas Colatron was ‘the product of time and space, coming into existence in a cacophony of light and sound’ – direct quote – A. Smart) The year before Andy was born, a famous incident happened where the I.T.V. transmitter at Hannington in Hampshire was hijacked by a rogue broadcast transmission (5.10pm – 26 Nov 1977) when a voice claiming to be a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command warned of man’s impending doom by his own actions. When he was older, Andy researched this incident, along with others, creating a fascination with Ufology in later life. This would be the basis foundation for what has become known as not only his best work to date, but one of the most intriguing and ethereal mashups ever made. I refer, of course, to E.V.P. – Electronic Voice Phenomenon. Fuelled only with a manic need to create, red wine and cigarettes, this modern day masterpiece was born.

He went to work, scouring for material of a similar nature, mixing and blending tracks, acapellas and instrumentals with broadcasts, quotes and newsreel recordings, some humorous, some disturbing. Should it just be purely UFO themed? Should the message be expanded to point out the futility of war and human tyranny? Ideas came and went, some dismissed, some discarded, some left for later. Movie quotes were added to entice the listener, creating mood and atmosphere, splicing sounds and cuts from previous tracks and allowing them to flow into one another. The atmosphere, mood and beat constantly changing throughout the track spices things up only to finish on a serious note, a cliffhanger if you will.

EVP starts with the original recording of the Ashtar broadcast with an introduction from Colatron. This is where the ride begins, flowing into part one, mixing Burial with Danny Tenaglia, Bassheads and the Close encounters theme. UNKLE, Aaliyah and Paul Hardcastle set the pace for the first half of EVP, leading into Once upon a time and Six Day War Pt2, flowing like a river, mixing Ian Brown, Aaliyah, Christina and Alisha Keys, creating ebb and flow. My favourite part is the use of DJ Shadow & Six Day War by the band Colonel Bagshot released in 1971, this along with the Art Bell show towards the end have become the identifying markers of this track. The anti-war theme continues throughout the piece, with an uplifting cameo appearance from the Streets and Katie Nash, with accompaniment of some old school beats, and just a dash of Scarface to season the mix, ending with the original broadcast of the Ashtar Galactic Command to bring us full circle.

Pieces of the track danced between Acid pro and Adobe Audition, with most finally resting in Ableton for those final tweaks.
Like the gourmet chef who takes the raw ingredients and creates a sumptuous meal, E.V.P. Is more than the sum of it’s parts. A one hour, thirteen minute & twenty nine second ride through the mind of Colatron. Like the glister of gold, this track truly is a gem, a timeless classic. This could only have been possible with a true love of music and creativity.

EVP is one of those tracks that you can listen to over and over again, and each time you will hear something that you missed the last time. Beautifully mixed, lovingly rendered and professionally mashed. I absolutely adored this fantastic work of art.

Please visit Colatron’s site. He has over seventy tracks to his credit as a solo producer and he is also a member of the now famed 1086 Productions, a collaboration of mashup producers from around the globe. The collective consists of The Reborn Identity, Wax Audio, Linus & Colatron, and their combined skills have produced a tribute to David Lynch in the form of ‘Mashed in Plastic’

If you like EVP, then I urge you to listen to Colatron’s ‘Welcome to my world’. This can also be found on his website .
So for now, close your eyes, lay thee down to sleep, for tomorrow is another day. As Andy rests,  I’ll leave Colatron with the last word, for there is a light in the night sky, a voice from beyond the far reaches of time and space, beyond the Ashtar province, and it is the whispering voice of Colatron, saying ‘be still now, for your chance may never come again. May you be blessed by the supreme love and truth of the cosmos.’

I have been playing around with some free loops I found on the net and have been playing around with Audacity. I have come up with my very first mashup and have decided to list it here. I hope you like it, its a mash of Katy Perry’s Hot & Cold mixed with Overseer’s Velocity Shift. Had a lot of fun making it.

Mashups and Remixes

If, like me, you like your music spiced up a little, then you may follow the mashup scene. However, I have had a lot of people asking me the difference between mashups & remixes. So I have done a little research into the history of the genre to try and define things for you. If you are interested, checkout mashup history on Wikipedia.
A Mashup is, in it’s simplest form, the joining of an acapella of one song & the instrumental of another. With imagination, ability and a good ear, a mashup can be as many songs as you like mixed together to create one track
A Remix is – when the original release has been edited to create a different version of the track. One good example of this is Beautiful Liar – Beyonce vs Shakira. To see the list of awards this song has won check wikipedia, but in Britain, it was the Freemasons remix version that propelled it to the No 1 spot after it was played on Radio 1 in place of the original track.

I have to say that I love mashups. I am a huge fan of RamdomThoughts, and constantly scour the internet for new talent.
For those of you who haven’t come across it yet. RamdomThoughts is the number one mashup podcast on the internet. It’s host and founder is a guy by the name of  Scott Johnson (a mate of mine and a class act). The show is a mix of mashups, remixes, podsafe music and Exclusive material, provided for the show by leading music producers from all over the globe. Scott is mates with (or on first name terms with) pretty much everyone on the mashup scene, from guys who mashup for fun in their bedroom, to international names such as Bobby Martini, Colatron & Dj Spider.
For those of you who would like to have a listen, there is a link in the left hand column, and you need not worry about missing out, as there are links to all past shows in the archive section.

Good Evening and Welcome

Hi, My name is Ian, and today I have setup my
first site ‘

The aim of this site will be to
promote Mashups, Mashup Producers, and Mashup Podcasts. I will also
use this format to raise questions about some of the problems in
society, upcoming issues with 2012, and maybe a few rants of my own.
There will be links to some of my favorite sites, and stuff that I
feel people should be aware of, and pretty much anything on youtube
that makes me laugh out loud. So until I am established, and figure
out what format I want here, I will bid you a fond fairwell
